Marvin Dewayne
Collins
Feb 29, 1972 — Oct 3, 2020
Marvin D. Collins, 48, of Memphis, TN, last moments ended unexpectedly on Saturday, October 3, 2020.
Marvin D. Miller was born on February 29, 1972 to Priscilla Jean Miller of Gallaway, TN. His name was later changed to Marvin D. Collins after he was adopted by Donald A. Collins, Priscilla's husband. Marvin is survived by his wife, Summer Collins, his parents, Pastor Donald and Priscilla Collins, his two sisters, Niketa Collins-Williams (Ronnie) and Brandye A. Williams, one brother and sister from another mother, Derrick Thomas and Jamie Taylor, his two children, Jazymn Collins and Jeremy Collins, his aunts and uncles, his cousins whom he grew up with, Sherita Miller, Corey Brooks, Charaun Brooks, Lashundra Drummond, Michael Maclin, Marcus Maclin, Timekia Miller, and Breana Miller. Marvin's deceased cousins include Gary Miller and Faith Miller. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Marvin accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Springhill Missionary Baptist Church. Marvin received his formal education from Memphis City Schools and was a proud graduate of Raleigh Egypt High School, "Home of the Pharaohs", Class of 1992. After graduating, he attended Lane College in Jackson, TN for a short time. After leaving Lane, Marvin moved back to Memphis, TN. He continued his education by attending State Tech and barber school for a short period of time. Like many of us, Marvin's life took several turns. As a result, he spent time in the Shelby County Penal Farm. Although not an ideal place to thrive, Marvin did learn valuable life lessons and developed many strong friendships.
Marvin enjoyed spending time with friends, watching football (Go Cowboys!), and cutting hair.
The Collins and Miller Families would like to thank all friends and family, both near and far, for all your continued support, love, and comfort. We greatly appreciate your sacrifice and acts of kindness.
